1. Information we collect

Information you provide

• Sender details: your name, email address, and phone number.
• Recipient details: the recipient’s name, shipping address, and (optionally) their email address.
• Quiz answers & notes: the answers you provide about the recipient and any note you choose to include.
• Reveal content: if a recipient reveals a gift, any photo and/or message they choose to submit.

Information collected automatically

• Basic usage and device information (such as pages visited and approximate location) via our analytics provider, StatCounter.

Payment information

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your full card number is entered on Stripe’s secure checkout and is never stored on our servers. We receive only limited confirmation details (such as a payment reference and status).

2. How we use information

• To curate, prepare, and ship your gift.
• To communicate order updates by email (and, if needed, by phone).
• To email a recipient a secure link to provide their shipping address, when the sender does not have it.
• To share a recipient’s reveal reaction (photo/message) with the sender, which is the purpose of the reveal feature.
• To operate, secure, and improve the Site.
• To prevent fraud and enforce our Terms.

3. How we share information

We share information only with service providers that help us operate:

• Stripe — payment processing.
• SendGrid (Twilio) — transactional email delivery.
• Amazon Web Services — hosting, database, and secure storage of reveal photos.
• StatCounter — website analytics.
• Shipping carriers — to deliver your gift.

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

4. Reveal photos

Reveal photos are stored privately in Amazon S3 and are shared only with the sender of that gift and our team. They are not made public.

5. Cookies & analytics

We use a small amount of analytics (StatCounter) to understand site traffic. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Essential functionality (such as the admin session) uses a strictly necessary cookie.

6. Data retention

We keep order information for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal and accounting obligations, and resolve disputes. You may ask us to delete information associated with your order, subject to those obligations.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), private storage for photos, and limiting access to authorized personnel. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

8. Your choices & rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to opt out of certain processing. To make a request, contact us using the details below. Recipients who receive an address-request or reveal email may ignore it if they did not expect it.

9. Children

SendMystery is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. You must be 18 or older to place an order.

We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date reflects the current version.
